Check please

Shorts: Cotton On, Shirt: JCrew, Belt: Aritzia, Clutch: Plum, Sandals: Aldo, Necklace: Vintage Belt (thanks Mom!)

You can’t really go wrong with black and white. You can, however, end up looking like you should be waiting tables. My tip? Add a big old necklace (even better if it’s a gold belt your mom wore in the 80s) and a bright clutch.  Done and done.

Hey Shortie

Sweater: JCrew, Shorts: JCrew, Jacket: Gap, Bangle: Alexis Bittar, Sunglasses: Joe Fresh, Flats: JCrew, Earrings: Banana Republic

I just can’t stay away from stripes, and from the past few posts , it seems I also have an issue with brights. And looky here, I paired both stripes and brights together for work the other day (yes, I can wear shorts to work, yes be jealous).

This sweater has been the best all-time buy from J.Crew. It’s season-less style goes with everything from beat-up jeans to fluoro coral shorts. It’s that one piece that I always turn too when I have less than 10 minutes to get ready— the stripes are kind of a distraction technique for for messy hair and wrinkled jeans. You heard it here first.

Stylish Comfort

Shorts: Cotton On (in NZ), Lace top: Aritzia, Denim shirt: Aritzia, Ballet Flats: JCrew, Bag: swapped, Bracelet: H&M, Sunnies: Joe Fresh

I’ve never thought you have to trade comfort for style, to me it’s all in the approach. Take a couple of basics in neutral colours, thrown in cute flats, choose a statement piece (I’m along the lines of go big or go home) and voila—chic and comfy.

Running errands doesn’t have to mean sweatpants ;) .

Neon and Neutrals

Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Gap, Colorblock top: Gap, Clutch: Cole Haan (gifted), Bangle: H&M, Sunnies: Joe Fresh

I know, this is a LOT of Gap to be wearing all at once. I usually mix it up but the colour accents seemed to work well together and I was running late.

Let’s discuss these shoes: j’adore! Not only are they uber comfy, they’re on trend with this season’s neon craze without being too over-the-top. My closet is full of neutral pieces and I love to add a hit of colour, I just prefer to do so in smaller details (though the back of this shirt is a big pretty big punch of pink!) or in unexpected places.

Modern Basics

Lace top: Aritzia, Jeans: Gap, Flats: JCrew, Bag: Gap, Bracelets: Rubaiyat, Sunglasses: Joe Fresh

Sometimes you just can’t go wrong with a t-shirt and jeans. Even if the shirt happens to be a little lacy and the jeans aged with years of wear.

I tend to opt for simple when it comes to my personal style. I prefer to add touches of colour or interest through accessories and twists on everyday basics., like this lace blouse from Aritzia. It’s already turning out to be a fave piece as it very simple but not boring. Details, like the scalloped hem, add texture to a classic look. Even better (and considering where it’s from, somewhat amazing), it’s affordable.
